Postdoctoral position in visual ecology and butterfly color evolution
Job Description:
The primary project will focus on butterfly structural coloration and morphology, placed in phylogenetic context. The postdoc will also contribute to ongoing projects in the lab in the form of data analysis / manuscript preparation and mentorship of graduate and undergraduate students.
The preferred start date for this position is August 1, 2026, although a later start date is possible if necessary. Funding is available for an initial one year and may be renewed for up to one additional year, contingent upon performance and availability of funding. This position will involve some travel to natural history museums for data collection, and a certain amount of remote work is possible. The starting salary for this position is 58K.
Required Qualifications:

A PhD in Biology or related field

An understanding of evolutionary principles

Proficiency modeling in R

At least two published (or in review) first-author papers

Ability to mentor students at various levels and contribute to a collaborative lab environment
Preferred Qualifications:

Proficiency working with large-scale data sets and bioinformatics

Experience measuring color with a spectrometer and using color analysis programs

Interest in outreach programming
